Who is Connie?
What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas!
The people on my birth certificate eloped (with my paternal grandfather and uncle in tow) to Nevada because MOMBC (man on my birth certificate) was older than WOMBC but not legally old enough to marry without both parents' consent in Arizona at the time (1969). He was old enough to have served multiple tours in Vietnam as USMC Force Recon before meeting WOMBC, old enough to bang her, but not old enough to marry her.

And that all makes about as much sense as what happened after - embryonic and fetal me spending the first seven months of my creation in a Nevada jail. Supposedly, WOMBC, MOMBC, his brother, and a hitchhiker they picked up, were returning to Arizona when baby brother and the hitchhiker (both under 18) decided to steal a rather expensive saddle. As the "responsible adults," WOMBC and MOMBC were the ones arrested. Yeah, I don't buy this story entirely, but it was the one that was told to me.

Since my parole date, I've lived in about a billion places in the U.S. because WOMBC and MOMBC divorced and then WOMBC married a piece of garbage with sticky fingers (actually the lesser of his criminal habits), overdue debts, and warrants. So, East Coast, West Coast, North West, South West, Midwest, and on and on, plus a short stint in Germany when my husband was stationed in Würzburg. I now live in Norfolk VA until the wind blows in a new direction.
I've been a lot of things
Lawyer, Legal Editor, Technical Writer, Childcare Worker, Waitress, Fast Food Worker, Library Assistant, Knowledge & Database Manager, Poll Worker, New York Times best selling author (for real, just not as Connie), Retail Store Clerk and Manager, Soldier and probably a couple more things I'm (intentionally omitting or) blanking on beyond "mom" and "wife" and co-owner of a menagerie of four cats.
I've been at this writing gig for a long time
Off and on. I think I was sixteen the first time I made an attempt at a novel. Poetry before that because I have ovaries and a thesaurus. Horror shorts at around age 22, children's picture books and YA for my years of 23-25. All of the preceding followed by a huge void of fiction as I went to law school and started work in the legal field (also known as the Years of Being Feasted upon by Soulless Bloodsuckers). Then came the glorious age of digital self-publishing. Now I have over 1 million words of romance living on the electronic devices of readers around the world. Suspenseful romance, sexy romance, paranormal romance, one or two really weird romances if you put romance in quote marks. In 2021, I did my first paranormal cozy (witchy) novel and love the world I built, so I'll be doing more than those. Oh, and a 2-book apocalypse series because I have more bounces in me than WOMBC's checkbook.

The Lost Mile is my first murder book and it is also my longest book to date.
My writing process consists of me occasionally falling onto my keyboard
But I still hope to write many more murder books both with and without Audra Beck.
All my role models are imaginary people
Arya Stark, Malcolm Reynolds, Deadpool, River Tam, Jane Eyre, Johnny Mnemonic and Molly Millions, Azhriaz, Jude the Obscure (well, not for life goals, obviously), Cayce Pollard, and more than I can think of at the moment. Come to think of it, most (all?) of my friends are imaginary, too.
